I had absolutely no problem with these LED strips, getting them connected and using with Alexa, the remote or the phone app. They connected to my home Wi-Fi flawlessly, you just need to follow the instructions.
As for installation, I immediately used skinny double-sided foam tape to line the whole outside of my room where I was going to put the light strip. I then used the adhesive on the back of the light strip to attach to the adhesive foam strip. If you look at my photos you’ll see how I lined the corner of the ceiling with double-sided foam tape prior to installing the LED light strip. This worked flawlessly.
If you look at the pictures you’ll also see that the LED strip is easily cut at the right points which I did in order to have the two light strips meet in the corner of the room. I was careful to make sure that the cut ends did not touch each other.
I actually started with the cut and in the far corner as I had already estimated the length I would need and left a little extra.
If you look at the shelf where I had the power leads connect you’ll see that I installed the receiver and sound receiver with double-sided tape. This way the infrared receiver is easily seen by the remote when my son uses it. This works flawlessly and the remote is very responsive when it’s installed this way.
The app is very responsive and gives you TONS of colour options and can be installed on more than one phone.
Alexa (echo) works perfectly. It is restricted to on off, brightness and colours of light. It cannot be switched to music or other modes by voice.
The music mode works very well but does require louder music, and responds very well to voice.
There are so many modes and colours you will not be disappointed with that.
This was exactly what my son wanted for his room and with the remote, Amazon Alexa and the app he is very very happy.
It has been up for a week now and I have had no connectivity issues with the remote, Amazon Alexa, or the app on the iPhone.
If you are like me and want all these features, I 100% recommend you give these a shot. I am actually going to buy another of the exact same ones.
Update: after a few weeks I had to install two of the clips at the corners where the light strips meet. They were slightly coming off. Once I used two of the included clips with two picture hanging pins/nails they are fully secure. I’m guessing the warmth of running them warmed up the tape and the ends are the spot that they could slightly come up. I will add pics later to show how it was done.
